Side effects

Some substances which have the required healing power also create other unfortunate effects on other body systems. The problem with using repeated doses of the same medicinal substance is that the side effects also increase in proportion. These side effects are only undesirable in that they can’t be controlled. Similarly, weeds are uncontrolled, undesired plants that find the same beneficial growing environment as our flowers do.

Should we also consider that the pharmaceutical industry itself has side effects to our social and ecological well being? That enlarges the scope of the definition of cure to be something that produces harmony among the nations of the world and keeps from inflicting polluting contaminants, gene altering hormonal agents, or economic inequity producing conflicts on unknowledgeable habitants.
